Maesil is commonly offered in Korean markets as an extract syrup for enhancing Korean marinades and sauces. It provides sweetness, tanginess, and depth.
Hong Ssang Ri is Korea's most well-known maesil manufacturer. Her family has been growing plum trees since 1931. In fact, the Korean Ministry of Agriculture designated Hong Ssang Ri as the first "Master" in the field of maesil. Hong Ssang Ri Farms, located in Korea's Southern Coastal Mountains, has around 2000 maesil trees!
Maesil Jeolim (매실절임) is another one of their best-selling items. This is maesil plums that have been thinly sliced and pickled for banchan.
Pickled Maesil plums are thoroughly rinsed and cut into 6 or 8 bite-sized slices. The slices are soaked in Oligodang Syrup and sugar for one day, allowing the natural juices of the plums to leak out.
Following that, the slices are placed in enormous, traditional Onggi earthen pots. The remaining liquids are also added to the saucepan. They are left in the pots to slowly age and ferment for 6 months to a year!
The result is deliciously acidic and sour plum slices after 6 months. The slices are ideal as a side dish to Korean barbecue or other pan-fried meals.
The amount of crunch left in this maesil jeolim is the greatest part.

For all pre-order items and fresh produce like fruits and fresh mushrooms, we regret that there is no refund, cancellation, or return once orders are placed to our supplier on Mondays when pre-order closed.
When you place a pre-order, we will create a special reservation with the manufacturer or supplier for you. Because of this, it is currently not possible for us to cancel a pre-order. If you do insist on a cancellation, then a surcharge of 70% of the order value will be imposed.
For SoGood Thursday Pre-Orders, please reach out to us immediately should you change your mind. Please contact us, call or email ASAP by 6pm on Monday of the week of delivery, as we will send in the order to import your items then.
For Frozen Items, in any case of receiving a wrong item, as long as the product is NOT consumed, left untouched (Thawed,Frozen), We will determine whether the item has meet our requirements and eligible for an exchange, or a refund. Any wrong item received that has a difference in price will be partially refunded depending on the situation.
